With that, let’s get into all the supported units and requirements and a few minor caveats below. And thousands of you every month do the same following these previously published steps. Or, for the European units I have when I travel to the US/Canada, like two weeks ago. ![]() I myself often use the freely downloaded variant I describe below (because I live in Europe, but often buy my units in the US). What differs is some of the special sauce Garmin adds atop it (heatmap type data), as well as the exact layers Garmin does or doesn’t display (how it looks, but also things like topographic lines). But here’s the dirty secret: It’s the same underlying map data.įor virtually all of Garmin’s maps included on Edge/Forerunner/Fenix/MARQ series devices, the base map itself is OSM (OpenStreetMap). Meaning that if the 3rd party map data isn’t perfect, it’s not their fault. They simply note that it’s unsupported (but doesn’t void any warranties or such). Note that while Garmin would prefer you buy the maps from them, they actually go out of their way to allow you to download free maps from 3rd party providers. Though, spoiler: It’s the exact same steps as below. But these days they do support it on a few units – so we’ll start with that today, and then on Friday I’ll give you the refreshed version for the Garmin Edge Series. Back then Garmin didn’t have any wearables that could do maps. However, for the sake of cleaning things up (and search optimization), I’m going to refresh both of those posts. Somewhat astoundingly for a tech-specific post, everything I wrote in that post all those years back is still actually correct in terms of steps. Garmin now includes maps for the region you bought it in (such as North America if bought in the US, or Europe if bought within Europe), but they still don’t include any way to freely download maps for other regions (such as going for a trip from the US to Europe). ![]() Back then, Garmin didn’t include any meaningfully detailed maps for any Edge devices, you had to buy those separately – often costing $50-$100 per map/region. ![]() Some six years ago I did a post on how to add free maps to your Garmin Edge series device.

The rear-mounted engine contributes to that quality, shifting much of the weight to the back. The Navi’s aesthetics and ergonomics may resemble a motorcycle, but the ride is closer to a scooter. Compared to a sportbike, the riding position is neutral and relaxed, but compared to a scooter, it’s much more commanding. Mid-mount pegs keep the knee bend at a 90-degree angle and the reach to the bars is short. ![]() The Navi’s motorcycle-style ergonomics only enhance that feeling. Combined with the user-friendly throttle response, the poised chassis allows riders to pick through rush-hour traffic with confidence. The balanced chassis not only remained composed at lean but also stayed steady at slow speeds. At best, the top speed of the Honda Navi is 55 mph, so it’s suited for around town and backroads but not freeways. Along with the supple suspension, the 27.5-degree rake made the Navi eager to tip in and the 50.6-inch wheelbase preserved that agility without sacrificing stability at top speed. Only the harshest hits unsettled the chassis. The 26.8mm inverted fork only offers 3.5 inches of travel and the rear shock lowers that figure to just-2.8 inches, but the soft suspension soaked up most road irregularities. Unlike the brakes, the basic suspension exceeds expectations. Why the odd price point? Why isn’t it $1,799 or an even $1,800? Honda reps told us the price stands out, not just for how low it is – most electric bicycles cost more – but because it makes folks stop and think. The “old school ABS” of the Navi’s drum brakes match its minuscule mill and $1,807 MSRP.Īn inverted fork and a single rear shock handle suspension duties, and they provide a decent ride. Despite stomping on the brake pedal with all my might, the rear wheel refused to brake traction. ![]() On the bright side (especially for newbies), the drum units lack the power to lock up. The linked system does maintain the Navi’s stability, but only compounds the vague feel at the lever and pedal when used in tandem. Light on initial bite and overall stopping power, the brakes require a heavy hand and extra distance to do the deed. The drum brakes help with those efforts, and they’re predictably soft. With drum brakes front and rear, the Honda Navi has limited stopping power. Of course, you can’t take yourself too seriously on a 109cc motorcycle, and the gentle powerband ensures those antics remain harmless fun. In full tuck, with the throttle pinned and a light tailwind, the Navi even touches a top speed of 55 mph. With its leisurely pace, the Navi obeys all posted speed limits, but on the backroads, riders can wind the miniMOTO all the way up to 50 mph. It takes the thumper more time to reach its maximum 7.8 horsepower at 9,500 rpm (there’s no tachometer on the instrument panel). I have no issue with requiring 2000 coins for a costume pack, seeing as it’s a collection of several outfits, but charging the same for a level theme – especially considering that there’s only one theme to start with, which can theoretically get dull after a while – seems like a bit much. A more prominent problem is the amount of coins needed to unlock most of the walled-off content. Besides, most of the platforms are positioned juuuuuust right so it’s almost never an issue. The jumping in Nyan Cat: Lost In Space took some getting used to as the little guy jumps as though he were wearing lead shoes, but it doesn’t take too long to adjust. And then there are the un-lockables themselves: level themes, outfits (Nyan Predator? Why not?), and permanent power-up boosts that can really mix things up. The other puts players in control of Nyan Cat’s nemesis, Tac Nayn, who’s some kind of evil waffle cat. There are a great deal of unique power-ups that can change just about any situation, plenty of quirky platforms (bouncing, disappearing, etc) to keep players on their toes, and the ever-present call of the coin to unlock new stuff. To say Nyan Cat: Lost In Space is almost bursting at the seams with content is putting it mildly. Coins can also be acquired throughout each run and can then be spent on new themes, outfits, and power-up upgrades. And by “goodies” I mean donuts, cakes, space helmets, “cigarettes” that seem a bit to Rasta to be comprised of tobacco, Super Nyan Cat logos, and a whole lot more. By “bad things” I mean dogs, sticks of dynamite, and even UFOs that will abduct and shakedown Nyan Cat for his treats. The little rainbow-trailing Pop Tart feline must leap from platform to delicious platform, gathering snacks and other assorted goodies while avoiding bad things or plummeting to certain doom. Nyan Cat: Lost In Space is… well, it’s Nyan Cat. Sure the music is catchy – I vote to make the orchestral version the official theme of the Internet - and the cartoon is cute, but haven’t we taken this far enough? Apparently not as there’s still more Nyan Cat making its way into virtually every form of media these days. You can change the complete/incomplete state by click the checkbox before the item. Then I googled and found that the official Markdown site says it supports strike-through. I had heard that MultiMarkdown has more features than plain Markdown, but in Drafts it didn’t notice strike-through. (Understandable since it’s an open-source standard.)įor example, today I wanted to type strike-through. ![]() ![]() I’m trying to figure out which I will use for day to day use, but it seems like throughout any app there is inconsistent implementation of features. Particularly Markdown, Multimarkdown, and Github Markdown. I was wondering if there is anywhere that has a side by side comparison of supported features for each of the syntax highlightings in Drafts. Please excuse me if this has already been asked.
